Fabrizio Romano shares why Daniel Farke will be ‘delighted’ by Leeds United development
Fabrizio Romano says Daniel Farke will be “delighted” with the manner in which Leeds United destroyed Norwich City.
Leeds put their underwhelming end-of-season form behind them with a convincing 4-0 triumph against Norwich on Thursday night (16 May).
The victory, coming on the back of last week’s stalemate at Carrow Road, saw United through to the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Writing on his Daily Briefing page [17 May], Romano said: “Daniel Farke will have been delighted with the way his Leeds side tore Norwich apart in the first half at Elland Road.
“By half-time the all whites were three up thanks to goals from Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter. In the second half, Crysencio Summerville put the gloss on a 4-0 win to take Leeds to Wembley.”
Leeds United favourites to beat Southampton or West Brom
A tight and cagey contest was expected at Elland Road, but it proved anything but in the end. Gruev opened the scoring inside seven minutes with a smart free-kick and Piroe bravely added a second not long after.
Illan Meslier produced a superb save at that point in what could easily have been a turning point in the contest, before Rutter and Summerville made certain of the victory.
As Romano rightly says, Farke would have been delighted with what he saw not just in the first half but across the full 90 minutes.

Whether it is Southampton or West Brom that Leeds face in the final at Wembley, they will be considered favourites to book their place in the Premier League.
After weeks of struggling to get going, the Leeds United we saw between December and mid-March are finally back. That, you have to say, is a worrying thought for any opponent.
In other Leeds United news, Chris Sutton made a “ridiculous” claim about a Whites player ahead of the match with Norwich.
