Daniel Farke confirms Leeds player to miss Brentford trip, not sure of return date

Daniel Farke has provided a Leeds United team news update ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Brentford.

Leeds battled to a 3-3 draw with Liverpool last weekend to remain two points outside the relegation zone.

It marks an impressive turnaround in form for Daniel Farke‘s side, having also defeated Chelsea and narrowly lost to Manchester City prior to that Liverpool point.

Farke’s Leeds job is no longer under intense scrutiny, but all that could well change with defeat at fellow relegation battlers Brentford this weekend.

Farke has one or two big Leeds selection calls to make at the Gtech Community Stadium, and there is now a clearer picture as to who will be available for selection in West London.

Lukas Nmecha ruled out of Leeds clash vs Brentford

Brentford have lost successive Premier League games heading into this contest, though they are four points better off than Leeds in the table.

The Bees will provide a tough test on home soil, and Leeds already knew they would have to make do without Sean Longstaff and Daniel James.

Farke also confirmed at Friday’s pre-match press conference that Lukas Nmecha is not yet ready to return to action.

Asked for further details on a possible return date for Nmecha, Farke said: “It’s difficult. First, he needs to return to team training. Hopefully that’s as soon as possible, but we’ll decide game to game.”

Farke has perfect blueprint to beat Brentford even without Nmecha

Nmecha not being ready for a return to action does not really change anything from Farke’s perspective.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has showed good form of late and will almost certainly start up top alongside Noah Okafor.

Leeds’ predicted XI vs Brentford.

Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson will operate at wing-back once more, with Anton Stach and Ethan Ampadu more central.

The big call for Farke to make is whether Ilia Gruev or Ao Tanaka then get the nod.

Either way, this Leeds side is starting to find its feet and there is no reason why a point or more can’t be collected at the Gtech.
