Dan James slammed live on air after what he did in Burnley 0-0 Leeds United
Dean Ashton was disappointed with the finishing from Dan James for Leeds United after he miskicked an excellent opportunity in the first half of their 0-0 draw with Burnley.
Perhaps as expected, the encounter between the two promotion hopefuls was cagey but James had an excellent chance to give Leeds an early lead when finding himself through on goal, which ultimately proved costly as the Whites had to settle for a point.
The Welshman completely miscued his effort though, with the ball bobbling harmlessly way from the Burnley goal with Ashton feeling let down by the attempt.
Commentating on talkSPORT 2 [27 January, 8:18pm], Ashton said: “Rather than striking through the ball, he’s hit the top of the ball, bobbled it onto the ground and skipped it away.
“It’s a really poor effort from Dan James, considering the position he was in.”
Leeds United remain in pole position to achieve promotion
The Whites are in an excellent position to go on and achieve their ultimate goal of a Premier League return despite missing the opportunity to extend their advantage at the top.
While it is easier said than done, Leeds just need to win their own games and the happenings elsewhere become largely irrelevant.
Of course, as it has been all season and will undoubtedly remain that way, there will be more twists and turns as the campaign goes on with there still seemingly four teams fighting it out for a place in the automatic promotion spots.

Consistency will be the key for Leeds and if they utilise the remainder of the transfer window to their advantage, they can add that injection of quality which will go a long way to achieving that.
With Sheffield United and Sunderland still to play, Daniel Farke will be fully aware of the importance of achieving a result in those fixtures.
