Dan James leaves Sky Sports pundit in awe after Leeds United moment v West Brom

Dan James left Don Goodman stunned after a “wicked” moment he produced in the Championship clash between Leeds United and West Brom on Saturday.

Leeds were held to a 1-1 draw against West Brom at Elland Road in a game which helped further cement their place at the top of the second-tier table.

Daniel Farke’s men were on top during most of the first half but the Baggies didn’t go down without a fight, with Tony Mowbray’s men the more dominant of the two in the second half.

James was once again one of the West Yorkshire outfit’s best players and put in a solid performance, with one moment in particular from the Welshman impressing Goodman.

During the moment in question, Jayden Bogle found himself running down the byline towards the Baggies’ goal but ended up getting wiped out.

However, this didn’t stop James from getting onto the spilt ball, cutting inside, getting away from his man and making a valiant effort at goal that went just wide.

Speaking live on Sky Sports (1 March, 12:35pm), Goodman shared his thoughts on the bold attempt from the Welshman.

“It’s a wicked effort that’s not that far wide. You can see the confidence to even take that on,” he said.

Farke needs James to stay on top form for Leeds

The 2024/25 season has been one where Leeds have dominated almost every team they’ve played this term.

While Sheffield United have been right on their heels, the whites have never shown signs of slowing down and it seems like they already have one hand on the Championship title.

Their recent wins against the likes of the Blades and Sunderland have only further proven this, but without James among their ranks, they’d have no doubt been far worse off.

While the Welshman was sidelined due to injury at the start of the term, since he made his comeback, he’s been one of the first names on Farke’s teamsheet – and rightly so.

If Leeds do end up getting promoted to the Premier League, James is one of the many players that the Whites need to keep at the club if they want the best chance of surviving their first term.

Because, without him helping to lead their attacking line as well as he has done thus far, it’s unknown whether they’d have been as dominant as they have been across all competitions.
