Dan James and one other ‘major doubt’ for Leeds United vs Wolves as Daniel Farke shares update

Leeds could be without two key players for their clash with Wolves.

Off the back of Leeds’ 1-0 defeat to Fulham, the Whites return to Premier League action with a clash against Wolves this weekend.

Despite being at the bottom of the league, Wolves are still favourites to beat Leeds, who are yet to win a game on the road this season.

Ahead of the game, Daniel Farke has addressed the media and confirmed that two of their regulars are now major doubts.

Dan James and Willy Gnonto to face late fitness tests

Leeds have struggled to score goals this season, and the last thing that Farke would have needed would have been injuries to his forward line.

However, in his latest press conference, the German has confirmed just that, with Dan James and Willy Gnonto now set to face a late test to determine if they can make Saturday’s game.

‘We have a few doubts for this game. Dan James is a major doubt,” Farke said at Thursday’s pre-match press conference.

“Also, Willy Gnonto is a doubt, struggling with some calf problems.”

Ultimately, if they are both to miss Saturday’s game, it begs the question as to who will feature on the right flank.

Brenden Aaronson started their last time out, but failed to make a statement, and Farke cannot make the same mistakes again this weekend.

Daniel Farke cannot experiment vs Wolves

Farke’s experiment failed miserably for Leeds in their recent defeat to Fulham, and given how poorly Wolves have started the season, he cannot afford to do it again.

Five games into the season, it’s hard to label any clash as a must-win, though this one on Saturday is as close as you will get to it.

After the latest team news update, the German is going to have to find a way to incorporate his best players into the starting 11, and more importantly, in their preferred position.

Given the lack of options going forward, that will be hard this weekend, but quite frankly, Farke can do anything aside from playing Aaronson on the wing to try and find success.
