‘Cut it out’, ‘Shameful’ – These Leeds fans respond to Jack Grealish Twitter message
Jack Grealish has won some begrudging praise from Leeds United fans recently and there’s no doubting he’s a hugely talented footballer.
Unfortunately, that’s not the only thing he’s known for on the pitch.
Grealish is what’s known as an ‘elite foul winner’. Sometimes the fouls he wins are genuine if cleverly engineered.
Other times he goes down like he’s been shot after minimal contact. And he was at it again on Monday Night Football.
Grealish turned to Twitter to criticise VAR after the 2-1 defeat to West Ham. The game was hit with a controversial decision late on when Ollie Watkins’ arm was adjudged to be offside. It was very similar to the Patrick Bamford decision against Crystal Palace.
VAR shots showed Watkins was being fouled as well but that was ignored and the goal was chalked off.
Grealish said, “As for VAR, I’ve shared my views before and it’s now just getting borderline embarrassing with some of the decisions. Ruining the game.”
That’s all well and good. But plenty of Leeds fans pointed to Grealish going down like he’d been hit by a sniper’s bullet in the same game.
Footage shared from the game showed that his knee was brushed at worst and he went down fully two seconds after the impact.
If certain VAR decisions are ruining the game, we think footballers over-reacting on the pitch are too.
And these Leeds United fans agree…
