Courtney Sweetman-Kirk raves about Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen

Courtney Sweetman-Kirk has showered heaps of praise on Rasmus Kristensen after he made a crucial tackle in the second half as Leeds United won 2-1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the 67th minute when the scoreline was still 1-1, Wolves had a great chance to take advantage. They were dominating the game at that time.

Rayan Ait-Nouri looked like he would get into a one-v-one position in the box, but the Whites’ right-back produced a magnificent tackle to deny the opportunity.

He swung his leg and got the ball. It was a vital tackle, and Sweetman-Kirk, who also works for Sky Sports, was full of praise for the Leeds summer signing.

“What a brilliant tackle there Absolutely fantastic. Look at that, he turned it into perfection,” said Sweetman-Kirk on the Premier League world feed.

Brilliant performance

It was a brilliant debut for the 25-year-old Danish defender.

Kristensen was involved in an incident in the first half, where he contested a long ball with Wolves keeper Jose Sa, who connected with the Danish international.

The Leeds defender was knocked cold for a few seconds, and his teammates demanded a penalty which was turned down.

It was a strange decision as the referee should have checked the incident himself and reconsidered his call.

Kristensen will be very delighted with the effort he has put in. He also delivered a brilliant Patrick Bamford, but it was too heavy for the England striker.

This has been a massive summer for the Whites where they lost two important players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha. The team needed to start positively, and they did just enough to pick up a victory here in their opening game.

These are early days, and once the new players spend more time on the pitch, they will get even better.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites now have a clear run to sign a £20m-rated left-back as their Premier League rivals have now bowed out of the race.
