Confirmed: Rodrigo misses Leeds clash v Leicester after COVID-19 contact
Leeds United will take on Leicester City at Elland Road in the Premier League on Monday evening.
Marcelo Bielsa has made three changes to his starting XI against the Foxes, with Liam Cooper returning to captain the side.
Jamie Shackleton and Pablo Hernandez have also come into the side that easily swept aside Aston Villa last weekend.
Surprisingly, Rodrigo and Raphinha have missed out completely.
Leeds shared an update on their two summer signings before the game, with the Brazilian simply missing out through injury.
In the case of Rodrigo, it appears to be much more complicated.
The Spaniard has been in close contact with an individual who has since tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
It has been confirmed that he shall now undergo a period of isolation away from the team to follow Premier League and Government guidelines.
Big blow
It is definitely a massive blow for the Whites to be missing their record signing, just as he was coming into his own at Elland Road.
Rodrigo was getting better every single week after cementing his spot in the side and this will hopefully not disrupt that run too much.
With current guidelines, the 29-year-old may have to isolate for 14 days – something that will keep him out of the Crystal Palace game too.
In one’s absence, comes an opportunity for another, and it will be Hernandez who will be handed the baton of the playmaker role on Monday.
