Confirmed: Preston key player missing for seven games in contention for Leeds clash

Leeds United did lose their 11-match unbeaten run on Saturday against Fulham, but the best part of the Championship is that there’s always a game around the corner to bounce back.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men come up against Preston, West Brom, and Sheffield Wednesday in the next three weeks – all teams in the top-six of the league.

The Whites know they will all be hard tasks, but games against your nearest rivals are the best opportunities to make sure that they don’t earn any points.

First up is Preston and Alex Neil confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Monday that Davies will be back in contention for the game at Elland Road on Thursday.

“He was in contention for Saturday but we made a late decision on him so he will be in contention again for this one,” he said via the club’s official Twitter account.

Davies had featured 16 times in the Championship before picking up an injury and would be expected to come in and replaced former Whites man Paul Huntington if he did recover between now and the game.

Davies has been missing since Preston’s 1-0 defeat against Derby County in November, after only managing to complete 72 minutes in that clash.

The 24-year-old had completed 90 minutes in each of Preston’s opening 15 matches in the Championship and if fully fit is surely guaranteed a spot back in Neil’s starting line up at Elland Road.
