Confirmed Leeds United team news for Premier League showdown v Southampton

Jesse Marsch has addressed the media ahead of his Leeds United side travelling down to the south coast to take on Southampton in the Premier League.

The American has confirmed that Luis Sinisterra, Liam Cooper and Adam Forshaw have returned and are available for the trip to St Mary’s.

One man who will certainly return is Dan James after he served the final match of his suspension in the win over Wolves last time out, with Luke Ayling, Junior Firpo, Stuart Dallas and Dani van den Heuvel all out.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as shared live on YouTube, Marsch delivered his updates on the squad going into the clash.

“We’ve had a lot more guys in training this week,” he said. “So, Adam, Liam and Luis have all entered training and all eligible for the weekend.

“Still, Junior is probably a couple of weeks behind, Luke is the same. Stuart Dallas I saw on the pitch today so that was an exciting moment for us.”

Two from Two.

That is the only thing that will be on the mind of Marsch.

Leeds had to wait until October in the 2021-22 season for their first Premier League win, so getting off the mark instantly was exactly what everyone needed.

Southampton did not have the same luck as they travelled to Spurs, looking hopeless at times as they were smashed 4-1 by Antonio Conte’s men.

That will mean nothing once the ball is first kicked on Saturday, and the Whites will need to bring that same relentless energy to St Mary’s if they want to make it six points from six.

Brenden Aaronson will be key once again, with Patrick Bamford also getting into his stride and should be more dangerous with more options on the bench to fall back on.

Leeds are slowly getting back to full strength [minus Stuart Dallas], something we haven’t said in what feels like years – bring on Saturday.
