Confirmed Leeds United starting XI v Southampton

Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI for their second Premier League clash of the season against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Jesse Marsch has decided to stick with the same side that picked up three points on the opening weekend against Wolves at Elland Road in that 2-1 win.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, the big changes were on the bench with the likes of Luis Sinisterra involved in a matchday squad for the first time.

It is also good to have the experience of Adam Forshaw back available after their injuries with his experience enough alone to add something to the squad.

Another welcome face on the bench at the St Mary’s will be Dan James, with his speed set to be a real weapon as players start to tire in the heat.

Marsch will no doubt be ready to use every last one of his five substitutes, so having much more danger on there is only going to help this afternoon.

Leeds United

Depth.

This is something we haven’t seen for years at Elland Road, although Joe Gelhardt was nowhere to be seen.

Whoever has been in charge has had to deal with constant injury issues and apart from the very obvious ones such as Stuart Dallas, that isn’t the case.

The Whites could bring on Forshaw, Klich, James and Sinisterra as four of their five substitutes at St Mary’s and they could affect each area of the squad.

Marsch will be buzzing with the options available to him, and hopefully, they can even make the difference or see out the game to take home three points.

Starting the season with six points will be sensational ahead of the Chelsea showdown, especially when you consider that we had to wait until October for one win in the 2021-22 campaign.
