Confirmed Leeds United starting XI and team news v Guiseley

Leeds United start their pre-season friendly campaign versus West Yorkshire outfit Guiseley on Tuesday night, but it’s a youthful side that will take to the field.

Under-23 manager Mark Jackson takes charge of a side containing the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Cody Drameh, while Crysencio Summerville starts despite recent loan links.

Amari Miller also starts after joining from Birmingham City in the summer.

Amongst the young faces is a senior player in 29-year-old Adam Forshaw, who lines up on the bench after a long battle back from injury.

Marcelo Bielsa has left duties to Jackson, with El Loco likely to take charge of a much more senior side against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow.

The Whites are starting their pre-season fixtures later than most, if not all, of their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal, meanwhile, began theirs two weeks ago [July 13] with a 2-1 defeat to Hibernian.

It’s probably shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Bielsa likes to do things a bit different.

He’s a meticulous coach so he’s sure to have put a lot of thought into it, and he clearly believes it’s best for his side to be put through their paces on the training ground before playing.

Instead, the Whites will condense their schedule into nine days, playing five times in that period.

There will be little time to rest after tonight with a trip to Blackburn Rovers tomorrow, and then there is a day rest before another away day to Fleetwood Town.

The day after that is a clash against La Liga side Real Betis at Loughborough University, and then the glamour tie with Dutch giants Ajax takes place in Amsterdam on August 4.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in the hunt to sign an overseas centre-mid amid a recent transfer development.
