Confirmed Leeds team news v Man Utd: Hernandez & rarely-seen youngster in squad
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has made no changes to his side ahead of their clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Whites announced via their official Twitter account prior to kick-off that Bielsa has stuck with the same 11 that started when they beat Newcastle 5-2 earlier this week.
Pablo Hernandez remains on the bench despite his impressive display as a substitute against the Magpies while rarely-seen Oliver Casey is on the bench with the 20-year-old only playing twice for the Leeds senior side.
Old rivalry re-ignited
Leeds United versus Manchester United is one of the biggest fixtures in Premier League history.
If you go back to the 1990s and the early 2000s, this was one of those matches that everyone – even neutrals – look for when fixture lists are released.
Since Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in 2004, the two rivals have played each other just twice.
In the last meeting, Manchester United won 3-0 at Elland Road in the League Cup but when you cast your mind back 10 years to 2010, you’ll remember Jermaine Beckford’s winner in a 1-0 FA Cup victory at Old Trafford.
That was the first time Leeds had beaten Man United since 1997 and their first win away against the Red Devils since 1981.
History makes slightly grim reading for Leeds but Bielsa is here now and Man United are nowhere near the team they once were.
Of course, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side can still move into the top-four with a win against Leeds but that is hardly down to how good they have been this season and more just a show of how tight the league table is.
Leeds, on the other hand, could go into the top-half with a win at Old Trafford.
It would be just as historic a win as the famous Beckford one back in 2010 if that happens.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa responded with one word when asked if he’d been considered for the Man United job.
