Clinton Morrison stunned after ‘silly’ footage emerges from QPR v Leeds
Leeds United were held to a draw at Loftus Road, taking a hit in their bid to achieve automatic promotion.
Having gone 2-0 down in the game, Leeds did somewhat well to salvage a point in a 2-2 draw against QPR, though it will certainly be looked at as two points dropped as opposed to one gained.
In terms of performance, Leeds were far from their best, and they may be forced to look back at this game as a missed opportunity depending on what happens between now and the end of the season.
However, it wasn’t the performance that caught the attention of Clinton Morrison; instead, it was an incident towards the latter stages of the game.

Dan James involved in controversy v QPR
An own goal from Morgan Fox and an equalising strike from Jayden Bogle levelled the game for Leeds, who continued to push for the winner at Loftus Road right up until the end of the game.
However, QPR stood strong and subdued that attacking right, until the 93rd minute when Dan James was hacked down on the counter by Koki Saito, who received a straight red card for his challenge.
QPR v Leeds | Goals | Shots | xG | Possession |
QPR | 2 | 8 | 0.82 | 34% |
Leeds | 2 | 10 | 1.46 | 66% |
The foul was committed on halfway, though the nature of the challenge left Morrison stunned when reviewing the footage live on Sky Sports News (25 March, 2:24pm).
Morrison said: “Once you lunge in like that, it’s definitely a red card. I don’t even think we have to bring Mike [Dean] into that because Mike would agree with us, and it’s a red card. It’s a silly tackle.
“He just lunges in and catches Dan James. It’s a really silly tackle.”
Of course, the challenge had little influence on the result given the timing of the dismissal, though James will be fortunate to have come out of the challenge unscathed.

Leeds must regain momentum in Championship
Despite having once looked as though they were set for a Premier League return, one win in the last four for Leeds has green cause for concern as we approach the latter stage of the season.
With the race for a top-two finish as tight as it is, Leeds simply cannot afford to hit a bump in the road, otherwise, they face the prospect of finishing in the playoffs.
Daniel Farke will be under pressure to ensure Leeds achieve promotion, though things will need to improve drastically on the pitch if that is to be the case.
