Clinton Morrison delighted by what 'brilliant' Dan James did v Wolves
Clinton Morrison has praised Daniel James for a ‘brilliant’ bit of play in the first half of the Premier League clash between Leeds and Wolves at Molineux.
James played a big role as the Whites managed to pull off a sensational come from behind 3-2 win.
Morrison, who was working for BBC Radio 5 Live on the game, was quick to praise the Welshman for his work in many moves throughout.
“It was brilliant from Dan James,” he said. “He does well, plays a good ball into the box and Rodrigo gets in front of Jose Sa but directs it wide.”
Leeds didn’t create much else in the first half as the hosts dominated possession and slowed the game right down to take them out of their comfort zone.
James hasn’t had the worst season in the world since moving from Manchester United in the summer, but when you remember he’s the most expensive player in the club’s history you can’t help but want more.
The winger has often been played as the central striker and out of position, so some lacklustre performances can certainly be accepted, but he’s simply not been good enough.
The team have suffered as a result on occasion too, with his poor final pass often letting chances go begging while his erratic finishing means he’s only scored four times in 23 starts this season.
If Leeds are to go down, maybe James will be more at his level but that’s not what the club want at all. They want and need to be a Premier League side next season.
If the 24-year-old can find some form between now and the end of the season, it wouldn’t be a day too soon.
