Chris Sutton raises Leeds United concern as prediction made for Man City clash

Chris Sutton can only see Leeds’ clash with Man City going one way.

Leeds travel to face Man City this weekend, knowing that this is the calibre of team they will have to contend with for the remainder of the year.

Daniel Farke is under immense pressure at Elland Road, and it may require a win for the German to keep his job with the Whites.

However, Sutton can’t see that happening against Pep Guardiola’s side, with an all-too familiar concern raised ahead of Saturday’s encounter.

Leeds’ attacking woes laid bare once again

Only Wolves have scored fewer than Leeds have this season, with 11 goals scored from their 12 games since returning to the Premier League.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled for form, Joel Piroe has hardly been afforded a chance, and Lukas Nmecha is their top scorer with just three goals.

That is by far Leeds’ biggest concern, though their defensive record isn’t much better.

Only three teams have conceded more than the Whites, who have won just once on the road so far this season, and Sutton can’t see that changing anytime soon.

Via his BBC Sport predictions, he said: “It was Leeds’ home defeat to Aston Villa that cost me in my predictions last week, because I went for a draw, but I was at that game, and they could easily have got something from it.

“It feels like they put so much into the first half that they were not able to maintain that intensity and, from what I saw, there must also be question marks over whether they are going to score enough goals.

“I don’t see City having any problems here. Playing Leeds, at home, is a great opportunity for them to get back on track.”

Sutton went on to predict a 4-0 defeat for Leeds, which would be their second biggest loss of the season after their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Arsenal earlier in the campaign.

Injury news has made a hard game even harder for Leeds

Sean Longstaff will miss Leeds’ clash with Man City, having been one of their most important players so far this season.

His usual replacement, Anton Stach, will also sit this one out due to concussion protocol in the Premier League.

It leaves Farke with very few options in the middle of the pitch, and it may require him to change the way he typically plays.

If Leeds try and match City, they will get obliterated, but if they try and shut up shop, they have a chance, as slim as that may be.

Either way, it would take a miracle for Leeds to get anything out of this game, with it potentially set to be Farke’s last in charge.
