Chris Sutton makes Leeds United and Burnley relegation admissions ahead of Premier League gameweek
Chris Sutton admits that he wants Leeds United to avoid relegation despite thinking Burnley will get over the line.
Both teams face the prospect of having to win on the final day of the Premier League season to secure 17th place.
Burnley are the ones that have matters in their own hands as a win against Newcastle keeps them up regardless of what happens in the Leeds vs Brentford game.
Sutton said on BBC 606: “I think Burnley will stay up. I would rather Leeds stay up.”
Things appear to be extremely tough for Leeds going into the final matchweek.
While they have been given a good chance to avoid the drop, it remains to be seen if they can actually muster up the performance of a lifetime.
Burnley have been in this stage before and their players have the know-how and experience to avoid the drop.
This Leeds side is relatively inexperienced and that could be their Achilles heel.
Jesse Marsch knows that his job will be under even more scrutiny should they fail to stay up.
Leeds were not in the relegation zone when he took over and seemed to have regressed under his stewardship.
This game is his chance to prove that he can cope with the pressure test and do whatever it takes to ensure that Leeds are victorious against all odds.
