Chris Sutton blown away by what ‘absolutely sensational’ Leeds star did vs Nottingham Forest

Leeds eased to a 2-0 half-time lead against Nottingham Forest on Friday evening.

It is a must-win game for Daniel Farke‘s side, who found themselves just six points above the relegation zone before kick-off.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was named in Leeds’ starting line-up, despite injury fears that surfaced during the week.

However, it was not the prolific frontman who had an impact where it mattered at Elland Road on 6 February.

Jayden Bogle leaves Chris Sutton stunned

Leeds’ players were aware of the implications, and they started quickly, with Jayden Bogle scoring the opener in the 26th minute of the contest.

The right-back made a marauding run which was found by Ilia Gruev, and he calmly slotted the ball past Stefan Ortega.

Former Chelsea forward Chris Sutton was blown away by the goal that put the Whites into the lead.

Speaking on Sky Sports on 6 February (20:26 pm), he said: “Well, I think his run is absolutely sensational, from that right-wing back role, you see Dominic Calvert-Lewin hold his run.

“Looks like he’s onside there, then he has that awareness, has a little look, then beats Ortega at his near post.”

Why Leeds need to stay alert

The Peacocks need to keep their composure in the second half, as it is imperative that they take all three points.

Failure to do so from the position that they are in at the break would be nothing short of a disaster for the LS11 outfit, and their hopes of remaining in the division.

Farke needs to use his half-time team talk to ensure that his players stay alert, and make substitutions at the right time to keep the comfortable lead intact.

Forest have shown some glimpses of what they are capable of in the first half, like Morgan Gibbs-White’s deflected effort towards the end of the half, and have actually had more shots than the hosts, with nine to their seven.

All it would take is for one of their promising moves to come off, to see the doubt creep into the mind of the Whites faithful.

They need to keep the supporters bouncing and maintain the two-goal deficit, for as long as possible so that Sean Dyche’s side do not get any belief and mount a comeback.

Taking a nine-point buffer on West Ham, who sit in 18th place, would be absolutely huge for the Yorkshire side, they need to make sure that it is still the case when the final whistle blows.
