Chris Iwelumo blasts ‘Sloppy’ Watford ace after what he did v Leeds United
Chris Iwelumo blasted “sloppy” Edo Kayembe after what he did for Watford in the first half of the clash against Leeds United.
The Whites travelled to Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening (11 February), eager to continue their march to the Championship title.
Daniel Farke’s men have set the pace at the top of the league table this season but suffered a shock FA Cup exit in a 2-0 loss against Millwall on Saturday (8 February) in a controversial clash with tragedy chanting taking centre stage.
However, the visitors got going right out of the gates in Hertfordshire, and one moment from Kayembe left Iwuelumo in disbelief.
Chris Iwuelmo blasts Edo Kayembe
The Whites lead the Championship table by no default, and Watford learned the hard way in a gruelling 45 minutes of action at Vicarage Road.
Leeds are the highest scorers in the division, having recently smashed Cardiff City in a 7-0 win on 1 February – when the side gets going it is extremely difficult to get in the way.
Watford had put up a resilient fight throughout the opening stages and threatened on a few occasions to catch the visitors out on the counterattack.
However, just when the Hornets looked like they had settled into the contest, Kayembe played the ball directly into the path of Dan James, who calmly converted past Egil Selvik for the match-opener, leaving Iwuelmo in shock live on Sky Sports + (11 February, 8:06pm).
“Yes, it’s just sloppy, isn’t it? It’s a nothing ball, it’s a blind pass, and it’s an excellent finish from Dan James.”
Dan James runs the show for Leeds United
Farke, as expected, named 10 changes to his Leeds side on Tuesday with Ethan Ampadu, the only player to retain his place after the loss against Millwall.
Despite concerns James would not make the matchday squad, all Whites supporters will have been relieved to see his name on the teamsheet at Vicarage Road.
Not only did the forward miss the clash at the weekend, but Farke also dropped him from the side that beat Coventry City 2-0 (5 February) as the fixtures come thick and fast in the business end of the season.
However, the 27-year-old has justified the decision for Farke this time around, as his brace put Leeds well in the driving seat heading into the second half.

Manor Solomon may have added the third to put the contest well and truly out of sight for Watford, but James will be the name stealing the headlines when the final whistle blows.
Former Whites man Aidy White dubbed James “phenomenal” for his efforts this term, and he certainly has lived up to the billing on Tuesday.
With another 45 minutes to go, he has plenty of time to add to his tally.
