Chelsea having trouble selling out Premier League showdown vs Leeds United

Chelsea fans don’t appear to have got the memo on the importance of Tuesday’s game against Leeds United.

Leeds travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the Premier League on 10 February, in what is the latest renewal of this unlikely rivalry that first developed back in the 1960s.

Chelsea are the big favourites to beat Leeds, as Liam Rosenior looks to continue his excellent start to life as Blues boss, winning seven of his first nine games in charge.

Farke is likely to make a couple of changes on Tuesday night, as his Leeds team continues to deal with a handful of injuries.

Leeds fans may be forced to generate Stamford Bridge atmosphere

Leeds and Chelsea matches have been played with added bite and rivalry for many decades now, after a series of controversial clashes in the sixties when the two clubs were both domestic and European rivals.

Therefore, Leeds fans will be travelling down to the capital ready to generate a typically raucous and electric away atmosphere, as they look to do a league double over the Blues.

But, and not that Whites fans will mind, the onus looks set to be on them to create the atmosphere inside Stamford Bridge.

It was revealed earlier this week that there were still plenty of Chelsea tickets available in the home end for the Leeds game, and that situation hasn’t changed.

As reported by financial journalist David Hellier via X, Chelsea are still struggling to move tickets in certain areas of Stamford Bridge, with the potential for some empty seats come kick-off.

That will be music to the ears of Leeds, as Farke’s side look to spring a memorable upset that could push them comfortably clear of the relegation zone.

Leeds’ recent record at Stamford Bridge

So, it would appear that Leeds have a great opportunity to win the atmosphere battle on Tuesday night, but what do the history books tell us about their chances at Stamford Bridge?

Well, they certainly don’t read in the Whites’ favour, as Leeds haven’t tasted victory in any of their last four trips to Chelsea’s iconic home in any competition.

Looking at the stats from the reverse fixture below, it appears highly unlikely they will look like that again.

In fact, Chelsea have scored three goals in three of those last four games, and have won every single one of them, with scores of: 3-1, 1-0 and 3-2 twice respectively.

Leeds fans always out-sing any fanbase, but let’s hope their players can do the business too; it might just be a free hit for Farke and his men.
