Charlie Cresswell update shared from Elland Road ahead of Leeds United v Norwich City

Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell is available to face Norwich City despite being involved in a car crash on Thursday (16 May).

With Cresswell seemingly unharmed by the crash, he is expected to still play a part in Leeds’ match against Norwich as the sides battle it out to reach the play-off final at Wembley.

Speaking live via Sky Sports on Thursday (16 May, 5:26pm), Peter Stevenson said: “It’s not ideal preparation for the young Charlie Cresswell, the Leeds defender. His car was involved in a collision mid-morning with a police vehicle quite close to Elland Road, we’re told.

“Leeds tell me this afternoon that it was a minor accident, that no one was injured, thankfully, and that tonight, Charlie Cresswell is available for selection.”

Despite playing limited minutes this season, Daniel Farke will be extremely happy that one of his players was not seriously harmed hours before the Norwich clash.

With Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon the preferred centre-back partnership, and Liam Cooper available from the bench, it will be unlikely that Cresswell manages to get onto the pitch.

Farke will be glad that he has as many options from the bench as possible, nonetheless, as the Whites bring back a 0-0 draw to Elland Road after a stalemate at Carrow Road.

Goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson was another Leeds player involved in a car crash earlier this season, so this is becoming an unfortunate running theme at Elland Road.

Fans will be hoping that this is all of the bad luck escaping before a crucial semi-final clash against Farke’s former team, with a place in the Championship play-off final at stake.

In other Leeds United news, a Farke sack verdict has been shared after an “unfathomable” development.
