Charlie Cresswell update ahead of Leeds United v Plymouth, Crysencio Summerville missing

Charlie Cresswell has been spotted with the Leeds United matchday squad for the FA Cup fourth-round clash against Plymouth on Saturday 27 January.

The defender has been heavily linked with the exit door in the January transfer window but is present at Elland Road after crunch talks with Daniel Farke.

Graham Smyth shared the news on X ahead of the game, with Willy Gnonto also present after recovering from an injury knock that has kept him out.

One player who looks to be missing is Crysencio Summerville, who could have been given a much-needed rest ahead of more crucial Championship games.

Recovery.

It looks as though Cresswell has cleared the air with Farke, and the door is now wide open for him to get his spot back in the squad regularly at Elland Road.

Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Liam Cooper and Ethan Ampadu have all been ahead of the youngster, who clearly wants more playing time after signing a new contract in the summer.

That isn’t just handed to you though, especially in the middle of a crucial season and if his head has been turned by a potential exit, Farke was never going to let him back in.

The FA Cup has come at a good time for Leeds, with some of the squad looking tired against Norwich and injuries starting to creep up again.

It is a good chance for the likes of Cresswell to start, but also the likes of Summerville to be rested and recharged in a game that isn’t high-profile in the competition.

A win is always wanted, and that will be no different today, but it may be a different group looking to get that in the bag than what we’re all used to seeing.

Bring it on.
