Casilla starts, defender dropped from squad – Confirmed Leeds starting XI v Reading
Marcelo Bielsa has announced his Leeds United line-up for the clash with Reading at Elland Road on Saturday.
As expected, it’s an unchanged starting XI from the 1-0 win against Bristol City last weekend, with Patrick Bamford up top and Jean-Kevin Augustin on the bench.
The only change in the squad – and it’s a slightly odd one – is Gaetano Berardi who drops out for Oliver Casey.
Kiko Casilla is in goal after the FA failed to deliver a verdict in his hearing for an allegation of racist abuse.
The FA was expected to deliver its outcome on Thursday but has still not made its decision public.
The team news was announced on the official Leeds United Twitter page on Saturday afternoon ahead of the 3pm kick-off.
There’s no place in the 18 yet again for new signing Ian Poveda but he’s been missing from the last three matchday squads and that’s no big surprise.
The omission of Berardi is more puzzling – he is fit and played for the Under-23s yesterday.
With his contract up in the summer, one fan was left wondering if that means he’s on his way.
The good news for Leeds already this weekend is that Fulham only managed a draw against Derby on Friday night, and Brentford are currently drawing 2-2 with Blackburn.
A win for Leeds would create a buffer of at least four points back to third regardless of the other Championship results.
