Cardiff key player could be ruled out of clash v Leeds - report

Cardiff City could be without Junior Hoilett for their clash against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, according to LeedsLive.

Hoilett, 29, has been one of the Bluebirds’ stand-out players since Neil Harris took charge in South Wales but there is a chance he will be unable to make the trip to Yorkshire this weekend.

The Canada international suffered an injury and was forced off in the 22nd minute of Cardiff’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Wednesday.

LeedsLive report that it is not yet known the severity of Hoilett’s injury which casts doubt on his availability for this weekend’s action.

Leeds will no doubt be buoyed by the news.

Cardiff have struggled on their travels as it is this season, having won just once away from the Welsh capital since their drop to the Championship.

It is likely that Hoilett’s absence is only going to make things harder for Harris’ men.

According to stats by WhoScored, Hoilett has averaged the second-most key passes per appearance in the Cardiff squad this term [1.6] and only Aden Flint and Lee Tomlin have assisted more goals than him [3].

Cardiff are bound to miss his influence and as Leeds aim to win their eighth game in a row, they will certainly be pleased if Hoilett is not involved on Saturday.

In other Leeds United news, fans have hailed Andrea Radrizzani for his tweet about Marcelo Bielsa.
