‘Is he drunk?’ – These Leeds fans react as Villa pundit does Bielsa’s team talk for him

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor went on talkSPORT this morning to explain his incendiary tweet from after the Leeds United v Wolves game.

Agbonlahor claimed that “Leeds are a myth” after they lost 1-0 on Monday Night Football at Elland Road.

Talking on the Breakfast show on talkSPORT this morning (9am), Agbonlahor doubled down but tried his best to put some analysis behind his bizarre comments.

“I watched them last night, they look like a bunch of hard workers and they’re the fittest team in the league but I feel like, going forward, Bamford has done okay, they lack a bit on the wings and up front,” Agbonlahor said.

“I think teams will find them out a bit. Who can work as hard as Leeds I think teams will beat them.

“If you’re getting that excited about Bielsa we must be putting a red carpet down for Dean Smith. I think people need to calm down about Leeds United at the moment.”

Hmm, okay Gabby.

We think most Premier League clubs would love to have the depth of attacking talent that Leeds currently have – Rodrigo (Spain’s number nine), Jack Harrison, Helder Costa, Ian Poveda, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford.

“They just run around a lot” must be one of the laziest takes we’ve heard so far this season.

As for the Bielsa v Smith comments, we’ll just point out that Smith spent way over £100m last season and almost got relegated.

If Agbonlahor wants to give him a red carpet for that then he can be our guest.

However, we appreciate that Gabby is trying to forger a career for himself as a shock pundit and is basically fishing for reactions.

He got some from these Leeds fans and we think he’ll get a lot more if Aston Villa lose on Friday night…
