Calvin Andrew gushes over Crysencio Summerville after Leeds United win v Rotherham
Calvin Andrew gushed over Crysencio Summerville after his performance in the 3-0 Leeds United win against Rotherham, insisting the winger is too good for the Championship.
The former Crystal Palace striker shared how he believes Summerville is now showing exactly what he is capable of at this level as his two goals secured all three points for Leeds at Elland Road.
Andrew could not praise the Dutchman highly enough, saying the way he runs with the ball is a rarity in the modern game and something he hasn’t seen from any player in a long time.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Leeds [10 February, 16:23], Andrew gushed: “Like I said, I’ve watched a lot of tape on him. Last season in the Premier League he showed real flashes of the quality he’s got.
“Stepping down a level couldn’t have been any better for him to come down and improve his game and show everyone what he’s capable of doing.
“He’s too good for Championship level, let’s be completely honest. Just even the way he moves with the ball, I haven’t seen a player like that for a long time.
“He glides with the ball with real speed and just seems to go past people with ease. You even see players trying to foul him and they’re not even able to do that. That’s a rarity.”
Leeds United could struggle to keep Summerville
Given the level of interest in Summerville’s signature from clubs in the Premier League, Leeds could face a difficult task keeping hold of him this summer if they cannot achieve their goal of promotion from the Championship.
Performances like today’s where he displays how he is clearly a class above plenty of teams in the Championship, adding to his 14 goals and seven assists in the league so far this season, will do nothing to ease the pressure Leeds face to keep him at Elland Road.

Andrew’s praise of the winger is along the lines of what Leeds fans have been telling everybody who will listen this year, he is easily a Premier League player, with so much to admire about his game.
With the promotion race hotting up given the form of Leeds and Southampton, with Ipswich also competing despite a dip in form, getting to the Premier League may be the difference-maker in Leeds’ pursuit to keep Summerville at the club beyond the summer.
