Calvert-Lewin lets himself down, James Justin excels – Leeds player ratings vs Man City
Dominic Calvert-Lewin wasn’t at the races as Leeds United lost 1-0 to Man City in the Premier League on Saturday.
After Leeds started the match well at Elland Road, Antoine Semenyo scored on the cusp of half-time with a close-range finish from Rayan Ait Nouri’s cross.
The Whites failed to get going in the second half, and Man City’s defensive qualities shone in the final knockings of the match.
With West Ham and Burnley also losing on Saturday, not much has changed in the Premier League table, and Leeds are still sitting in 15th place with 10 games to go.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has a night to forget for Leeds
Calvert-Lewin has been a phenomenal signing for Leeds, but it’s safe to say that he wasn’t at his best against Pep Guardiola’s side.
In the opening minutes of the match, he fired wide from close range following Brenden Aaronson’s cross.
He then had a couple of half-chances in the opening 45 minutes, which he failed to convert, and it never felt as though he was going to get the rub of the green in LS11 on Saturday.

According to Sofascore, Calvert-Lewin had five touches in the opposition box, but he didn’t make any of them count during the game.
He must earn some credit for never giving up, and he definitely did cause some problems for Man City’s defence.
However, he has now gone three games without a goal, and the Whites desperately needed him to be on top form against the Citizens.

Despite losing the match, it was Leeds’ defenders who were more impressive, with James Justin standing out.
James Justin produces another fine display for Leeds
Daniel Farke’s 2-5-2 formation has allowed Justin to flourish at right centre-back.
The 28-year-old right-back has adapted well to the change in system and is proving to be reliable alongside his fellow defenders.
Against Man City, he was calm on the ball and did well to deal with the likes of Omar Marmoush and Nico O’Reilly.

The Sofascore stats above show that he was the highlight on a disappointing evening for Leeds, with the former Leicester City man making five clearances.
It’s no shock that he is keeping Jaka Bijol out of the starting line-up, and if he continues his fine run of form, perhaps a call-up to the England squad could come in the near future.
