BT Sport pundit slams Illan Meslier for what happened in Leeds United v Liverpool
Jim Beglin was not pleased with what he saw Illan Meslier doing in the opening stages of the Leeds United v Liverpool clash.
A ball was played into space with Meslier and Liam Cooper both attempting to get to it without the Frenchman giving a call as to whose it was to deal with.
This saw Mo Salah capitalising on it and his header was cleared off the line by Pascal Struijk to spare the Frenchman’s blushes.
Speaking on Premier League Productions’ world feed (29/10, 19:47), Beglin, a BT Sport pundit said, “What was he doing? There should be a call from Meslier ‘Get out of the way’. It was chaos in there.”
Meslier is clearly not having a good game and he’s got to sort himself out during the break and come out with a fresh mind in the second period.
It can be argued that he should’ve done better when Liverpool did get their opening goal with Salah breaking the deadlock.
He has looked nervous and all over the place in the first 45 minutes, something that’s not been the case over the past few months.
Jesse Marsch knows he’s got to do something and do it quickly because Leeds won’t get anything from the game if they keep playing like this.
The Reds have their cavalry to bring off the bench when the tempo drops and they’re going to keep the visitors on their toes right until the end.
Leeds will have chances on the break as they have in the first half, but we can rest assured that a stronger Liverpool side is coming out in the second half.
In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered Jesse Marsch’s “sack” verdict after what he heard this month.
