Wigan loanee sends Ben White Instagram message after Latics win v West Brom

Wigan defender Leon Balogun has delivered an Instagram message to Leeds United enforcer Ben White after the Latics’ 1-0 victory against West Brom on Saturday.

The fellow Brighton loanee responded to his parent club teammate claiming that Wigan’s win at the Hawthorns deserved thanks from the Whites as the battle continues at the top of the Championship.

Leeds’ 4-0 victory against Hull City at the KCOM cut the gap to only one point at the top of the Championship as the title race was well and truly reignited.

White shared a post on his personal Instagram account wishing Leeds fans a good weekend after the routine demolition job against Hull.

Balogun responded to that after his Wigan side also pulled off a superb victory and performance at the Hawthorns only a matter of hours later.

“You’re welcome mate,” he wrote.

It was an afternoon where many expected West Brom to run away with things against Wigan, but as they proved at Elland Road earlier in the season, they can be stubborn on their road to victory.

The Baggies were poor in every area, and had less possession as well as completing fewer passes and shots on goal compared to the Latics [WhoScored].

That result would have led to many celebrations from Leeds fans, as it cemented our place as the in-form side in the Championship promotion race.

Prediction expert Nate Silver also changed his probabilities of promotion on his website, FiveThirtyEight.

Leeds now stand a 64% chance of winning the title, but it’s our chances of promotion which stand out more. The Whites are predicted to have a 96% chance of earning automatic promotion, so yes, maybe Balogun and Wigan deserve a big thank-you from Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
