Brenden Aaronson update as Leeds star absent v Man United
Brenden Aaronson has been nowhere to be seen as Leeds prepare to face Man United in their first pre-season encounter.
With Anton Stach set to become the Whites’ sixth summer signing, Leeds have made plenty of progress in the transfer window ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Several of those will be given a chance to showcase their ability this afternoon when Daniel Farke’s side face Man United, with Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha handed a starting role.
However, several players are absent from the squad, leading to questions around their future, with Aaronson one of those missing.

Aronson given extra leave for Leeds
Out of the players currently residing at Elland Road, Aaronson is perhaps the biggest question mark as to whether he will be capable in the Premier League, having failed there in the past.
The USMNT international was a mainstay under Farke last season, leading to people assuming he would play a similar role in the top flight, but his absence from the clash against the Red Devils led to a few questions.
Season | League | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | Championship | 46 | 9 | 2 |
2022/23 | Premier League | 36 | 1 | 3 |
However, via X (19 July), Graham Smyth has now explained that his absence is due to an extended break, having been away on international duty.
Isaac Schmidt is another absentee from the squad, with a minor injury the reason behind his no-show in Stockholm.
Aaronson will be joining the squad in due course for the remainder of the training camp in Germany.
Leeds have perfect chance to showcase their progress
Surviving in the Premier League is the task that awaits Leeds this season, and with a clash against the Red Devils, they have a perfect opportunity to showcase their ability.
Bijol and Nmecha will be keen to make an immediate impression, while Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Sebastian Bornauw will have to wait for their chance from the bench.
