Brenden Aaronson incredible as 3/10 teammate has shocker – Leeds player ratings vs Newcastle

Leeds United fell to a last-minute 4-3 defeat against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Wednesday.

Daniel Farke’s side travelled to St. James’ Park and were ambitiously hoping to extend their seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Brenden Aaronson put the Whites one goal up shortly after Pascal Struijk’s first-half miss, but Harvey Barnes brought the hosts back on level terms.

Leeds were given what some believed to be a controversial penalty before half-time, which Dominic Calvert-Lewin expertly dispatched.

Aaronson’s second-half goal was then cancelled out by a Bruno Guimaraes penalty and a very late Harvey Barnes winner for the hosts.

Brenden Aaronson is getting even better for Leeds

Aaronson has been a man possessed recently, a drastic change from someone who was bashed by nearly every supporter earlier in the season.

The American has taken his time to get up to speed with the Premier League this season, but now everything seems to be clicking for the attacker.

Aaronson’s first-half goal may have been the pick of the bunch after firing past Nick Pope from long range, but his second was the cherry on the icing on the cake of a top individual display.

His goals were great, but Aaronson’s overall display was even better.

The Leeds man made 13 defensive contributions in the match and completed 100 per cent of his dribbles successfully.

Gabriel Gudmundsson lost at sea vs Newcastle

Apart from creating one big chance against Newcastle, Gabriel Gudmundsson was otherwise useless.

The Swedish man has been great for the Whites since arriving on a permanent deal in the summer, but his stats at St. James Park were awful.

The defenders around Gudmundsson did their best for Farke, but the Swede was just unable to contain Newcastle’ forwards.

With the January transfer window now here, the Leeds boss may have to re-think whether or not he feels Gudmundsson can keep starting at left-wing back.
