Brenden Aaronson hailed for ‘superb’ scenes away from Leeds United in statement performance

Brenden Aaronson has remained an important player for Leeds United in the Premier League.

Despite being a divisive star in the promotion season, Aaronson has begun to prove himself at Elland Road this season.

Creatively, he has been excellent for Leeds, as the West Yorkshire side looks to avoid the drop.

Now, this form has continued into the international break as he looks to show Mauricio Pochettino why he should be in the US national squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Brenden Aaronson hailed for substitute appearance vs Australia

Farke will no doubt be pleased with Aaronson, not only for his performance against Australia, but also due to his limited minutes.

The attacking midfielder did not play in the 1-1 draw against Ecuador last week but was brought on for the 2-1 victory over Australia on Wednesday.

Here, the Leeds star impressed, making an instant impact at DSG Park.

As a result, the media was quick to praise his performance, highlighting one moment of magic against the Aussies.

Givemesport on 15 October gave the Leeds man a 7/10, stating: “An excellent shift for the Leeds United man who could have had two assists.”

Pro Soccer Wire on 15 October continued this praise, giving Aaronson a 6/5/10 before commenting: “Aaronson replaced Weah in the aforementioned triple sub, intriguingly taking up the exact same role the Marseille man had been playing.

“However, 12 minutes later (and before his ad hoc wingback skills could be truly tested) he moved into a central role and immediately did superbly to carve out a chance for Luna, who couldn’t punch the opening home from inside the six-yard box.

“The 24-year-old looked a threat from the half-space, creating another look for Luna in the closing moments.

“It’s a crowded position, but Aaronson showed he belongs in the mix in limited minutes.”

What do the stats say about Aaronson’s performance for the USA?

According to Fotmob, Aaronson had an excellent game for the USA.

Despite only being on the pitch for 26 minutes, the attacking midfielder managed to create two chances, completed all but two passes, while he also contributed defensively.

It appears that Farke’s faith in Aaronson has paid off, with the US international in excellent form of late.

Hopefully, this can continue after the international break when Leeds take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
