‘Baffling’ – Phil Hay reacts as Hull Supporters Trust posts Twitter update about Leeds fans

Footage of Leeds United fans being taken out of the home end at the KCOM and moving in with the away supporters has gone viral since the game on Saturday.

It was a very strange sight but one that Leeds fans loved, with a song of “We sit where we want” going up in the ground.

Leeds pretty much did what they wanted on the pitch too, blowing away a hapless Hull side 4-0.

However, the Hull fans aren’t happy at all about what went down and now the Supporters’ Trust has penned a letter to the club asking for their comments.

They want to know why the Leeds fans weren’t ejected from the ground “as per ground regulations”.

They also want to know why the Leeds fans were walked in front of home fans, “putting both sets of fans and the stewards at risk”.

Athletic journalist Phil Hay has had his say on Twitter.

He said that “as amusing as some of the scenes were, I did find the management of the crowd baffling on Saturday – especially the way people were left to find their own seats in the away end.”

You can see the footage of the fans moving below and it’s an odd sight in this day and age.

Hull could well have made the call that with the sheer number of Leeds fans, the common sense thing to do was to move them into the away end.

It all ended well this time but questions will be asked about the safety of the game and how it was handled by Hull.

It’s yet more proof, though, that Leeds fans are the best and most committed in the country.

Sitting with opposing fans isn’t the most comfortable way to watch a game, especially one you win 4-0, and we’re very glad that all the supporters found themselves seats with like-minded supporters.

As Hay said, though, the lack of internal management of the incident was very strange.
