Bielsa delivers major Leeds fitness boost & confirms big team news v Crawley

Marcelo Bielsa has delivered a fitness update ahead of the FA Cup clash between Leeds United and Crawley Town on Sunday.

The good news for Leeds is that both Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente are fit, although the former is more likely to start on Sunday.

Tyler Roberts, meanwhile, remains “unavailable”.

Bielsa was talking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the 1.30pm kick-off on Sunday.

The other big news from the press conference is that the squad for Crawley will be an experienced one with “nobody who has not played”.

That means that Leeds fans looking to see Under-23 stars make their debuts are set to be sorely disappointed.

Do we want a cup run?

Of course we do.

Not being in the draw gives us an empty feeling and the rush of getting close to a major trophy can’t be beaten.

Leeds aren’t going to win the Premier League (this season) but there’s an outside chance they could get to Wembley and lift the FA Cup.

However, the Premier League comes first.

40 points is the target and Leeds have already got 23 on the board with just 17 games played.

It would take a catastrophic collapse for Leeds to face a relegation battle now, especially with the quality of teams like West Brom and Sheffield United.

However, as always, it’s a balancing act that Bielsa has and you wouldn’t want to beat Crawley only to lose our four Premier League fixtures that are coming up in the space of just over two weeks afterwards.

It sounds like it’s going to be a very recognisable line-up on Sunday.

It’s disappointing that we’re not going to see the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, but their time will come.
