‘Bielsa could make changes’ – Jeff Stelling & Matt Le Tissier predict Leeds v Charlton clash
Leeds United play their final game of a memorable Championship campaign tonight against a Charlton side who could still go down.
They’re currently outside the dropzone but only on goal difference and Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier thinks that Lee Bowyer’s side will have to rely on other results going their way, predicting a big 3-0 win for Leeds.
That’s also the view of Phil Thompson (he goes 3-1), although Jeff Stelling thinks that Charlton will get a point in a 0-0 draw at Elland Road.
The Sky pundits delivered their predictions on the Super Six website, with Le Tissier saying, “There was no hangover for Leeds at Derby, who celebrated the Sky Bet Championship in style.
“Marcelo Bielsa could make a few more changes but they should have more than enough to dominate the game and end the campaign with three points.
“Charlton will be hoping results go their way to ensure their Championship status for another year.”
Former Leeds player Lee Bowyer is the Charlton manager and that adds to the intrigue tonight – as does the fallout from the last game between the two clubs that ended with Kiko Casilla being banned for eight games for racist abuse.
We can’t see Casilla playing any part tonight – and hope he’s not in the squad.
Leeds have already won the title and tonight will be their coronation, with the Championship trophy being delivered after the game.
However, we’re expecting Marcelo Bielsa to put out a strong side in respect to the competition and Charlton’s rivals at the bottom of the league.
There will be no fans inside Elland Road but Leeds will be hoping that fans stay away from the stadium and watch the game at home.
That might be a vain hope after the scenes in the city centre when Leeds were first promoted (Friday) and then crowned champions (Saturday).
The city had to have a big clear-up after the celebrations and we think there could be another big job ahead of workers tomorrow morning.
