Bielsa confirms two Leeds players back for clash v Sheffield Wednesday, Bamford update

Marcelo Bielsa has delivered a big boost to Leeds fans with the news that Jamie Shackleton and Pablo Hernandez will be back for the game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Shackleton has only played one minute of action since October, while Hernandez has missed the last three games.

Bielsa also confirmed that Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford are fit too after the clash against Arsenal. There had been speculation about Bamford but the striker is fit – and that’s very good news.

Bielsa was talking in his pre-match press conference (live on the LUFC app, Thurs, 12.45pm).

There was also some really positive news about Adam Forshaw, who has been struggling with a hip injury and has missed the last 17 league games.

He’s progressed well and Leeds are expecting him back “on the grass next weeK“.

We’re not entirely sure what that means as Forshaw has already been spotted by MOT Leeds News training on his own on the grass in the last few weeks.

It could mean full training but that’s normally specified.

Either way it’s great news for a player who offers something unique to Leeds and having him back for the season run-in would be huge.

It’s back to business on Saturday after a very enjoyable FA Cup diversion.

Sheffield Wednesday are vying for the play-offs themselves and a win for Leeds would mean more daylight between them and a promotion rival.
