'Best player on the pitch' – Some fans react to display from forward after big Leeds bid tabled

Leeds United are trying to sign Ryan Kent from Rangers and have already had one bid rejected out of hand – said to be for £10m.

Now they’re set to go back with an improved £14m bid that would also double his current wages of £25k-a-week. [Scottish Sun]

Steven Gerrard has said that he doesn’t want to lose Kent in what is set to be a defining season for the Scottish club.

Gerrard is hoping to stop Celtic from winning their tenth consecutive title while also winning his first silverware with the club.

However, Leeds chief Angus Kinnear is said to be “confident” that Kent will sign for Leeds and Gerrard has admitted that Kent has a price where a decision over him would be taken out his hands.

All the attention hasn’t distracted Kent from his job north of the border.

He was the top-rated player in the 2-0 win against Kilmarnock on Saturday, according to the Glasgow Times, and scored the second goal of the game – his third in five games this season.

These Leeds fans watched him in action over the weekend and one said, “Ryan Kent. Best player on the pitch. Ran things. #JustSaying.” Others said his display would put even more money on his valuation.

One Rangers fan responded to the chat from Leeds fans saying that they had to “come in with a sensible bid first, at least another 10m.”

Would Leeds be prepared to go as high as £20m for Kent after Rangers signed him for £6.5m last summer? We doubt it.
