Exciting youngsters set to play
Given the international break, it’s going to be fascinating to see who is named in the starting XI tonight.
Nohan Kenneh, Charlie Cresswell and Cody Drameh, and exciting Under-23s attackers Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood are available.
We would expect them to play given the importance of the game.
It’s also possible that a couple of first-team players could be given a spin if Marcelo Bielsa wants any of them to get minutes ahead of the game against Arsenal.
Leeds can name no more than two in the side that has to contain at least six players under the age of 21.
Progressing through to the knockouts would represent a significant achievement for a team that lost 7-0 in their first game in the group to Accrington Stanley.
That was a really young team who got a lesson against the League One side.
League One Blackpool will represent another stiff test for the youngsters. They’re currently two places above Accrington in the league and it will be fascinating to see how players like Gelhardt and Greenwood get on against senior opposition.
Some fans have been calling for them to be promoted to the first-team. Tonight will be a big clue as to whether they’re ready or not.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds fans should be very worried as £18m man moves to long-term injured list
