'Joke' – Some Leeds fans react as BBC man says what Poveda is doing after being axed from squad
New Leeds United signing Ian Poveda has been dropped from the matchday squad to face Nottingham Forest – and fans aren’t happy.
If he’s fit, it’s a step backwards for the 19-year-old winger who has made the bench for the last two games without getting on the pitch.
BBC journalist Adam Pope revealed that Poveda was training at Thorp Arch as the first-team squad made their way to the City Ground.
Poveda was named on the bench for the Under-23s last night and came on to play 40 minutes in the second half.
Not seen him. I believe he was training at TA today after playing U23s last night. #lufc

New striker Jean-Kevin Augustin also played 45 minutes for the Under-23s last night but travelled with the squad to Nottingham and has made the bench for the first time.
We don’t know what to make of this news, except that it’s another blow in terms of the January signings that Leeds made.

So far, neither Poveda or Augustin has played a single minute of first-team football and with the news that Poveda has been left at home to train, the fans are not happy…

It doesn't matter. Expecting a kid like him to come in and make an immediate impact is impossible. Mainly because he hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of getting first team minutes for at least a month.

Tbh he was on the bench against Wigan and we didn’t play him so he might as well stay at home 🤷🏼♂️😭

If Poveda & JKA not involved today have to say its a strange way of strengthening the squad for a promotion push ! #lufc

One fan thought that he might have suffered a knock in the Under-23s game, which would explain the situation.
He took a clattering last night during the second half. Derby were very aggressive crippled hosannah and ten minutes later went in on poveda. No subs left so he carried on

However, Athletic journalist Phil Hay said that he thought it was purely tactical.
JKA replaces Poveda amongst the subs. Tactical decision, as far as we’re aware.

Two fans thought that Jean-Kevin Augustin would be on the bench with Poveda out – and their prediction has come true, despite a downbeat assessment on the striker’s fitness in the press conference on Thursday.
Must be on bench as Poveda not travelled

😂 😂 It's a bit weird as he didn't have a boot bag with him but Adam pope said Poveda been training today so he's not there so surely he wouldn't take him if he wasn't on subs bench. 🤷♂️🤞🏻🙏
