BBC pundit claims Leeds star not happy at where Bielsa played him v Fulham
Leeds United entertained the fans again with a thrilling 4-3 win over Fulham on Saturday.
It was their first Premier League win of the season after losing their first game 4-3 to Liverpool.
Rodrigo got his first Premier League start after Pablo Hernandez missed out through injury but the club’s new record signing didn’t impress and was hauled off at half-time by Marcelo Bielsa.
And BBC Sport pundit Pat Nevin claimed that Rodrigo wasn’t comfortable where he was being played and would want to be further forward.
Talking on the BBC Sport website, Nevin said, “I don’t think Rodrigo was comfortable in that position. He’d like to play further forward. With so many penalties being given, he gave one away against Liverpool.”
Nevin also claimed that it would be tough for Leeds to keep up their fast start in the top-flight but had praise for striker Patrick Bamford.
“Leeds play at this really high tempo. But they’ve got to keep it going for 90 minutes in every game in the Premier League and that’s really tough.
“He’s not had that many opportunities but Patrick Bamford was ultra-calm as he went through [for Leeds’ third goal]. He waited and waited and stroked it home. He was right on the shoulder. It was probably a little bit too easy to get through them.”
Bamford to keep Rodrigo out
We’re not worried about Rodrigo yet and were expecting him to take time to bed into Marcelo Bielsa’s system.
He’s got another week of training before the next game away at Sheffield United next Sunday.
However, if he wants to play further forward he’s going to have to be patient.
Patrick Bamford has had a blistering start to the season, and put in one of his best performances for the club on Saturday.
He scored for the second game in a row and added an assist. In the official Fantasy Premier League game, he’s now the third highest-scoring striker behind Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Rodrigo offers versatility and can play in the number 10 position. He plays number nine for Spain but he’s going to have do better from deeper if he wants to get more starts for Leeds.
Bamford is doing his very best to make the striker role his own this season and Bielsa won’t be dropping him anytime soon.
