BBC journalist details why Jean-Kevin Augustin was not in Leeds squad v Middlesbrough

Jean-Kevin Augustin missed the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on Wednesday night after the Leeds United striker suffered a knock, according to BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope.

The journalist reported why the 22-year-old had not been named in the squad at the Riverside via his personal Twitter account prior to kick-off.

Marcelo Bielsa was forced into one change in his starting line-up at Middlesbrough as Kalvin Phillips had suffered a knock in the win against Reading at the weekend.

However it seems that Phillips was not the only one to be hit with a setback as Augustin also had been ruled out of the trip to Teesside with an issue.

Augustin is yet to start a match for Leeds since he was signed on loan from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window.

He has made a few appearances off the bench but Bielsa is yet to be convinced by the Frenchman’s fitness and how up to speed he is with his tactics.

It remains to be seen how long this knock will keep him sidelined for but knocks are usually the kind of thing that’ll keep a player out for a match or two.

Although that does not sound like much of a deal, the fact that Augustin has had a setback in his settling-in period at Elland Road could delay him making his first start for the Yorkshire giants.
