Bamford details what Ben White has WhatsApped him ahead of Leeds clash v Brighton
Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has said that he’s still in WhatsApp contact with Brighton player Ben White ahead of the game at the Amex on Saturday.
Bamford said that White has told him that he’s enjoying life back at Brighton, his old stomping ground.
However, Bamford also stoked the fires a bit ahead of the Premier League game when he said that if White had stayed at Leeds he’d have got in the England squad.
Talking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Bamford said, “I’ve WhatsApped him a little bit, he’s enjoying it back there, I think it’s because it’s where he’s from and that.
“He’s back with his family and friends, but obviously when we get on the pitch there’s no friends.
“If he’d have stayed at Leeds he’d be in the England squad, it’s one of them. It will be a good match and I’m surprised they’re struggling.”
White is always Whites for us
It will be weird to see Ben White lining up against us on Saturday – he still feels like a Leeds player to us.
There’s rivalry between Leeds and Brighton fans over the player and we’d say that we probably hold the advantage there after the South Coast club said they wouldn’t do business with direct rivals over the summer.
Leeds are in ninth and looking at Europe, while Brighton are still struggling against relegation.
We do think it’s a shame for White though and we think he would have progressed much more as a player under Bielsa.
He’s stagnated a bit under Graham Potter, while players like Luke Ayling have been linked with the England squad.
White was being touted by some as a future England star while at Leeds but that hasn’t surfaced again this season as he’s played in blue and white.
Brighton fans won’t take too kindly to what Bamford has said here but it’s more than probably true.
