Bamford and Ayling out: Marcelo Bielsa confirms Leeds United team news v Tottenham
Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford will not be available for Leeds United when they play against Tottenham on Sunday.
Both players have been missing since mid-September due to injury and many hoped they would be fit to return by this weekend.
However, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has relayed what Bielsa told the media on Friday morning, saying that while they’re developing “positively”, there’s no timeframe for their return.
While Tottenham have not been in the best form as of late, Antonio Conte’s appointment is likely to prove a boost to them.
It’ll be Spurs’ first home match since the Italian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo and the atmosphere is bound to be electric.
There is no denying that this will be a tough match for Leeds United. However, Bielsa is bound to have a few tricks up his sleeve in order to try and upset Spurs.
Leeds are in good form themselves and while it remains to be seen how the international break will have affected momentum, if the Whites can play the same way as they did against Leicester, there’s a good chance they can return from North London with something to show for it.
There’ll be no shame in losing to a team who hopes to finish in the top-six this season but we would be disappointed if we didn’t at least see a strong performance.
If we play well and manage to keep the score respectable or grab a point (or three) then that sets us up nicely for meetings with Brighton and Crystal Palace over the next couple of game weeks.
