Ayling still a month away

Luke Ayling is at least a month away from making his first-team return.

That’s the news from Football Insider, who claimed that he wouldn’t be considered for a return for a month after recovering from surgery on an ankle injury over the summer.

Ayling and Tyler Roberts have been the only two long-term injuries so far this season and neither have made a first-team appearance this season.

Both were spotted in training at the end of August when it looked like they would be ready for action in September.

Roberts made his comeback on Monday when he played the second half for the Under-23s and looked good in a 0-0 draw away at Crystal Palace.

He is likely to start for the Under-23s before getting back on the first-team bench, which is Bielsa’s preferred route of return for injured players.

However, Ayling won’t be in action until October and that could even mean a November return to the first-team if Ayling goes through the usual Under-23s games first.

Thankfully, Stuart Dallas has been playing brilliantly at right-back and Ayling might even struggle to displace him when he’s 100% fit.
