‘Congrats on promotion Leeds’ – These rival fans react to latest twist in Championship race
Nottingham Forest dropped two points last night in the latest promotion twist in the Championship and Leeds United fans will love the reaction from their fans.
The Championship is a phenomenal league (we’ll appreciate that fact when we’re promoted, honest).
The trouble is it’s really tough to get out of and Forest fans are the latest to get a big dose on reality.
The adage that anyone can beat anyone has been proven by all the top teams, Leeds included, but after West Brom lost to Wigan on Saturday, it was Forest that provided the latest promotion twist.
They were given an almighty shock by struggling Middlesbrough at the Riverside and Jonathan Woodgate’s side came close to taking all three points.
Lewis Grabban popped up to score a late equaliser but it means Forest are eight points behind Leeds with 10 games to go and plenty of their fans have given up the ghost.
It leaves Fulham as the closest rivals to that all-important top-two spot and Leeds have a five-point buffer to third.
It’s so much healthier than it was a few weeks ago when the chasing pack had caught up.
But, despite what the Forest fans are saying, there’s no time for complacency. Three wins, including against Fulham, will make Leeds look almost unstoppable and we go again on Saturday against Huddersfield.
