Jean-Kevin Augustin makes exciting declaration ahead of Leeds weekend clash – MOT View

New Leeds striker Jean-Kevin Augustin has declared himself “absolutely ready, 100% fit” after playing his first 45 minutes for his new club.

Augustin played 45 minutes for Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s at Hillsborough yesterday and gave fans a scare when he went down under a challenge just before half-time.

He was treated on the pitch and looked unsteady when he went off at half-time, after the rest of the Leeds players had already left the pitch.

MOT Leeds News spoke to Carlos Corberan after the game and he said that the striker was fine and would train as normal on Tuesday.

Augustin has now confirmed that and declared himself “ready to play” as Leeds prepare for a huge game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Talking in the Yorkshire Evening Post Augustin said, “I wanted to go somewhere that I was going to play, that I was going to get minutes and I would have clear aims and objectives for the end of the season, which I thought Leeds were definitely offering me.

“I mean, fitness-wise, physically, I feel ready, I feel absolutely ready, 100 percent fit in that sense. I’m ready to play.”

That’s an exciting declaration that will thrill Leeds fans.

However, after missing the game against Wigan on Saturday, the big question is whether Bielsa thinks Augustin is ready.

It’s not just a question of fitness – Bielsa has very exacting standards about new players playing in his system and Augustin didn’t show much in his Under-23s outing.

We also don’t think Bielsa is one to bow to pressure after Leeds fans made it clear they were disappointed not to see their new player on Saturday.

We’d put his chances at 50/50 but that’s better than we’d have said after the Under-23s game yesterday.

Now it’s down to Bielsa.
