Andy Hinchcliffe slams Jayden Bogle Leeds United first-half moment v Derby

Andy Hinchcliffe has slammed Jayden Bogle for not passing the ball to Daniel James in the first half between Leeds United and Derby.

The commentator was left baffled after the right-back opted to play the ball to Brenden Aaronson in the middle instead of releasing James on the right wing during one of the Whites’ counterattacks.

On Sky Sports [7 December, 12:45], Hinchcliffe said: “He’s got to go to his right. He’s got James in acres of space. Play the ball early. Travels too far and plays the ball into traffic.

“The first time the game has gotten stretched with Derby. They’re committing lots of bodies up the pitch. Bogle needs to play that ball out to the right far quicker.”

The Englishman has started on the right for Daniel Farke’s team at Elland Road on Saturday [7 December] as they look to return to winning ways.

Jayden Bogle wasteful in Leeds United first half v Derby

Bogle has been wasteful in the opening 45 minutes, but the German manager has to stick with the 24-year-old for the second half because Sam Byram is out injured and Junior Firpo isn’t fully fit either.

The Whites lost 1-0 in their previous fixture against Blackburn Rovers on 30 November and subsequently lost their place at the top of the Championship table.

While Farke is in no immediate danger of losing his job, the Elland Road faithful have high expectations from this season, and if the 48-year-old fails to deliver promotion to the Premier League, fans will unarguably turn on him.

Leeds United were unable to get back to the English top flight in the previous campaign after losing 1-0 to Southampton in the play-offs final.

Considering the injury issues they’ve suffered, the Whites have done well this term to keep pace with other sides at the top of the table.

Bogle needs to get his bearings together after the break and help his team not just defensively but going forward as well.
