Andrea Radrizzani sends touching tribute to Leeds fans on four-year anniversary
Andrea Radrizzani has issued an emotional message of gratitude to Leeds United supporters on the four-year anniversary of his ownership reign.
The Whites chairman took over the West Yorkshire club on May 23 2017 after the side finished seventh in the Championship.
That was under the stewardship of manager Garry Monk but he announced his shock resignation just two days later with Radrizzani left to pick up the pieces.
It was a tough first season at the club for the Italian supremo but events have changed immeasurably over the past few years with Leeds now assured of a top-10 spot in the 2020/21 Premier League table, less than 12 months after being promoted from the second-tier.
Marking the date with a touching tribute on his personal Twitter profile, Radrizzani wrote: “Four years could be a long time, or it could be so quick if you live intensively and you achieve something unforgettable and you have built your legacy with a special club, a vibrant city and wonderful people around it.
“Thank you Leeds United for letting me feel some of the best emotions in my life.”
The man who helped change it all
Before Radrizzani arrived we were a rudderless ship in danger of sinking under previous co-owner Massimo Cellino.
There were some bizarre decisions all around as we lurched from one disaster to the next.
It wasn’t a quick fix under Radzrizzani but we’re certainly a transformed club now.
He hasn’t been shy to flex his financial muscles while he has retained a close affinity to the city and club, often seen at games or cheering the Under-23s side on Twitter, for example.
But perhaps the greatest gift of all was the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa as manager in 2018.
El Loco has been the catalyst in the changing of our fortunes, and Radrizzani was the man who signed off on the deal and has had the charisma to keep the enigmatic Argentine at the club for the past three years, and counting.
Thanks for everything Radz, and here’s to the next four years.
