Ally McCoist tears ‘really poor’ Marc Roca to shreds after Leeds United incident v Leicester City

Marc Roca was torn to shreds by Ally McCoist on BT Sport after the Leeds United midfielder was responsible for a “really poor” incident in the 1-1 draw against Leicester.

The moment involved a pass out from the back from the Spanish midfielder in the Premier League clash with the Foxes on Tuesday (25 April).

The 26-year-old has been a key player under manager Javi Gracia, playing the entire 90 minutes in the club’s last six matches.

Speaking on BT Sport 1 on Tuesday night (25 April, 08:15pm), McCoist said: “It’s really slack initially, playing him in like that. That’s poor, really poor. And then Cooper comes across to challenge. [Barnes] is onside and Cooper does really well to get across. That’s a big chance.”

McCoist added: “It’s a poor pass out of the defence. I think it was Roca. Really poor. It’s a lack of concentration.”

Leeds United

Huge role to play

Roca was an immediate hit at Elland Road after joining from Bayern Munich last summer, with the talented midfielder impressing in his defensive role in the early stages of the season.

It’s certainly not easy to impress the passionate fans in West Yorkshire, with several talented players coming and quickly going over the years after failing to hit the heights expected of them.

The minutes did, however, dry up for Roca upon the January arrival of Weston McKennie, but the Spaniard’s time on the pitch has increased once again amid the injury to Tyler Adams.

Roca, like every single member of the Leeds squad, will be key in the club’s fight for Premier League survival, with the Spaniard handed more responsibility than most given his position in the heart of midfield.

There is undoubtedly a talented player there, highlighted by the fact that German giants Bayern brought him to the Allianz Arena after his impressive displays at Espanyol.

Gracia will want all that talent to shine in the coming weeks as the club desperately seek to climb the Premier League table.

In other Leeds United news, one pundit believes the Whites are currently a “mess” and the recent transfer activity of Victor Orta should be coming under scrutiny.
