All 23 words Alan Shearer said about Leeds United on Match of the Day vs Bournemouth

Leeds put in another encouraging display against Bournemouth on Saturday, cruelly drawing 2-2 late on at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side were within seconds of claiming another big Premier League win, after goals from Joe Rodon and Sean Longstaff cancelled out Antoine Semenyo’s opener.

However, a last-minute equaliser from Eli Kroupi broke Leeds hearts and ensured the match finished all square on 27 September.

The result puts Leeds on eight points after six games, leaving them well clear of the Premier League relegation spots.

Alan Shearer has encouraging words for Leeds United fans on Match of the Day

The Whites played well against Bournemouth, particularly Sean Longstaff, who arguably had his best match in a Leeds shirt.

The performance follows a pattern of the Whites taking the game to Premier League mainstays without showing too much respect for their opponents.

These encouraging showings from Leeds and the other promoted clubs have led to several pundits changing their relegation predictions for this season. Indeed, Troy Deeney and Wayne Rooney are among those to have walked back on their predictions that Leeds will go down.

Now, on Saturday’s episode of Match of the Day, Alan Shearer also had some positive opinions to share about Leeds.

He said in his only reaction: “I think with the home fans that both Sunderland and Leeds have got, they’re always going to be difficult for teams going there.”

Leeds look like they belong in the Premier League

We’re only six games into the Premier League season, but Leeds look far from a team that’s set to be fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.

Aside from the 5-0 thrashing at Arsenal, the Whites have competed well in every game.

Longstaff and Anton Stach have dominated the midfield for large periods of games against established Premier League sides.

If it wasn’t for a couple of silly goals conceded, Leeds would be fixed in the top half of the table.

It’s understated praise for Shearer to say that Leeds’ home fans will make things difficult for opponents this season.

The Leeds players have made things difficult, both home and away. If they can keep up this level of performance, it could be an exciting season for supporters around Elland Road.
